Today I wanted to let you know a little bit more about the newborn photo sessions and answering a few FAQ.
When should we book a newborn session?
Newborn sessions should be booked during the second or third trimester of your pregnancy.
When you book your newborn session, we will mark your due date in my calendar and I'll leave a few dates available for you. You will let me know when Baby arrives and we will set a date for your session then.
When and where will the session take place?
Newborn sessions are best to be done when Baby is 2-3 weeks old. The reason behind this is: that in the first few weeks Baby will be more sleepy and for some newborn poses, Babies must be asleep to safely pose them.
Sessions are done in my home studio based in Donabate, Co. Dublin.
Will every Baby sleep through their photo sessions?
Of course not: most Babies will wake up during their sessions, but that's absolutely normal. They might need a feed or a change or just a cuddle. My sessions are 100% Baby lead and if they need to stop, we will do so. That's why newborn sessions are usually 2-3 h long.
Will every Baby go to all poses?
No! Every Baby is different (just like as: adults) and they have preferences. Some like to lie on their tummy, some prefer to be on their back. Some will love to be swaddled, some will tolerate it less. I will attempt each pose with every Baby but will follow Baby's lead. If they are not comfortable in a pose, we will continue with the next one.
Will we take family/sibling photos too?
Absolutely! During your newborn session, we will create multiple set-ups: we will take Baby portraits, family and sibling photos too.
